Simon Jackson


Simon was born in Salisbury at home on Bemerton Heath. His family then moved away from Salisbury returning in the early 70’s when Simon then studied at Bishop Wordsworth’s School before taking a degree in Botany and Zoology at the University of Wales. After University he married his wife Gill (a Salisbury native) at St Martins Church- then moving to London and then North Yorkshire following a career as a brewer.

His work brought him back to the south of England, and a return to Salisbury in 1994 where he has lived ever since. His two daughters have both been educated in Salisbury at South Wilts Grammar School.

Since returning to Salisbury he has held a number of roles in the Brewing Industry in various locations including a spell in Edinburgh as the UK Manufacturing Director for the UK’s largest brewing company.

From 2006 until 2015 he was CEO of the Institute of Brewing & Distilling the professional body for Brewers worldwide – a role which has required extensive international travel
Simon has been chair of the Salisbury Branch of the British Heart Foundation for the past 20 years and has recently become a Trustee as The Salisbury Museum.
