On Saturday 14 May, Mayor Making wtook place to handover the Mayoral chain from Cllr Caroline Corbin to Cllr Tom Corbin who became the 761st The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury.
The event was attended by over 200 Civic Dignitaries including Mayors from neighbouring towns and cities.
On the day, a civic procession of visiting Mayors and invited guests left the Guildhall in procession via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church at approx. 10.20am with a fanfare played by the Shrewton Silver Band. The Full Council meeting and Mayor Making ceremony commenced at 10.30am.
The Civic Party then made their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall for a private reception.
Alongside the Charter Market in the Market Place, throughout the day there was also activities in the Guildhall Square including free children’s workshops from 10.00am – 4.00pm. There was also live music by Tom Clements and Salisbury City Band of The Royal British Legion from 11am - 4pm.
