The countdown to Christmas in Salisbury officially begins on Thursday 19 November with the annual Christmas Lights Switch On in the Market Square from 6pm until 8pm.
This free event, organised by Salisbury City Council, is a great family favourite and marks the start of the late night festive shopping in the City.
The event this year will showcase performances from Faux with their Indie/Alternative Rock mix, a performance from Salisbury’s Starcast Performing Arts School and the very popular Salisbury Plain based covers band Break Cover will be getting us all singing along to a great mixture of festive songs and popular hits from across the decades.
Father Christmas himself is also set to make a guest appearance accompanied by the Mayor of Salisbury Cllr Andrew Roberts and the Dean of Salisbury The Very Reverend June Osborne will give a blessing on the evening.
The countdown to the actual switching on of the City lights starts at approximately 7pm followed by a magical light projection show with stage pyrotechnics. There will also be a number of snow machines around the square to add to the festive feel!
