The popular Artisan Market, Foodie Friday, Teenage and Vintage Markets are drawing to a close for 2016 but there is still time to be involved. The Markets run from March until October in Salisbury Market Place and have been providing Salisbury with live music, street food and great stalls over the past few months. The last markets for this year are as follows: 

Victoria Cross Commemorative Stone to be laid for Lt Col Tom Edwin Adlam VC

A paving stone to commemorate the award of Lt Col Tom Adlam’s Victoria Cross (VC) medal for gallantry will be unveiled in Salisbury on Tuesday 27 September.

As part of a nationwide programme, VC commemorative stones have been laid at 469 towns and cities in honour of those who were awarded the prestigious medal. The paving stones are made of York stone Scoutmoor, a very hard-wearing British stone that is quarried near Ramsbottom. Each stone will include the name of the individual, the rank and regiment of the individual (at the time the VC was awarded) and the date of the action for which the VC was awarded.

The Popular French Market Returns to Salisbury

France at Home will be returning to the City of Salisbury with their popular French Market alongside the Vintage Market on Friday 30 September and the Salisbury Charter Market on Saturday 1 October in the Guildhall Square. The French Market will open daily from 9am until 5pm.

Sunday Markets for the Festive Season

Salisbury City Council will be hosting Sunday Markets in the run up to Christmas following on from the success of 2015. The Sunday Markets will start on Sunday 20 November from 10am until 3pm. The Markets will continue on the following dates: 27 November, 4, 11 & 18 December.

Salisbury City Council are delighted to announce that the Christmas Lights Switch on event will take place on Thursday 17 November in Salisbury Market Place from 6pm – 8pm.  Christmas Lights switch on officially marks the start of Christmas in Salisbury and late night Thursday shopping in the City.

Salisbury City Council and Eventive Funtime recently ran a social media competition with the theme being the Salisbury Eye. The Salisbury Eye is a large ferris wheel located in the Guildhall Square, Salisbury. The competition proved extremely popular with 80 photo entries.

Salisbury City Council & Eventive Funtime are running a photography competition themed around the Salisbury Eye. The Salisbury Eye located in the Guildhall, Square is a large observation wheel measuring 115 feet tall. The Salisbury Eye has been open to the public since 16 July and leaves the City on 17 August.
