Beth and James have lived in Salisbury in St Edmund and Milford ward since 1974 and moved to Laverstock in 1996. James who still works as a medicolegal consultant, was formerly a hospital physician in Salisbury and Southampton and Beth was a GP in Castle St Surgery. Both had fathers who served in the war and mothers who were matrons and midwives. James served as a District Councillor in the last administration of the old Salisbury District Council, with responsibility for the environment. He has a continuing interest in the Southern Core Strategy, and in particular transport. He is concerned that the Joint Assessment Strategy of the Wiltshire County, which has revealed the poor state of Salisbury and rightly given priority to the congestion and air pollution on its roads, will not be acted upon with appropriate urgency. Salisbury still does not have a current Transport Strategy and so is stuck with a failed old one at a time of great changes which bring threats and opportunities.
