Asset Transfer

Following a transfer of assets from Wiltshire Council to Salisbury City Council on 1 April 2017, the City Council is now responsible for the following areas in the City.

• Grounds maintenance in many areas where it was previously Wiltshire Council
• Play areas previously looked after by Wiltshire Council
• Shopmobility 
• The Guildhall Square and Market Place
• Henry Fawcett Statue in the Market Place
• Poultry Cross
• Fisherton Clock Tower
• A range of properties around the city

Bemerton Heath Centre

The Bemerton Heath Centre, run and funded by Salisbury City Council, is based on Pinewood Way within Bemerton Heath and is a place for the whole community.

The Centre was set up as a venue to provide advice, information and services and as an outreach centre to deliver adult education, promote social inclusion, provide a focal point for the community and offer a place for residents to meet. The Centre’s aims are achieved through a series of regular classes, activities and special events. These include adult education courses, youth clubs, after school activities clubs, over 60s lunch clubs and drop in services. Volunteers, both residents and non-residents of Bemerton Heath, are always welcome to join us to help expand our activities.

Avenue Cemetery

Avenue Cemetery

The Avenue Cemetery was opened on Wednesday 2nd October 2019 by the Mayor of Salisbury Cllr John Walsh and the Leader of the Council Cllr Jeremy Nettle.

This lawn cemetery is set in a 6 acre green field site off the Avenue Wilton, the design is organic and simple in nature incorporating many sweeping paths supplemented with extensive planting to create intimate spaces.

There is a central focal point in the form of a memorial garden which has a simple open sided wooden gazebo in the centre.

The cemetery has adult lawn plots, meadow burial areas, cremated remains section, children’s burial area along with a Muslim section.

The cemetery has water taps throughout and car parking for 25 cars including disabled bays.

When visiting the cemetery please use the bins provided and observe the Cemetery Regulations at all times.

The Cemetery is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year.

All burial records are based at the Crematorium office. If you wish to contact the office please telephone: (01722) 333632. The opening times are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. The office is closed at weekends and all public Bank Holidays.

Cemetery grounds are maintained directly by the Salisbury City Council Parks Department. All enquiries regarding the upkeep of the cemetery please contact the Parks Department on: (01722) 342860.

Camping & Caravan Site

The camping and caravanning site is managed on behalf of Salisbury City Council by the Camping and Caravanning Club of Great Britain. The site, in close proximity to the City centre, is open from just before Easter until the beginning of January. You do not have to be a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club to stay at the site.

All queries and bookings are taken either directly via the Club or at the site itself when open. All fees are paid to the Club.
