Mayor of the City of Salisbury 2017 - 2018
Salisbury City Council is delighted to announce the election of Councillor Mr John Lindley as the 757th The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury following the Annual Meeting of the Council which took place at St. Thomas’s Church on Saturday 13 May 2017.
The event was attended by over 200 Civic Dignitaries including Mayors from neighbouring towns and cities who witnessed the handover of the Mayoral Chain from Cllr Mr Derek Brown OBE to Cllr Mr John Lindley.
Cllr Lindley was born and raised in the City and said, “I am truly grateful to be selected as your 757th Mayor of The City of Salisbury and look forward to meeting you all over the coming year.”
The Mayor’s Charity for 2017-2018 will be the Alzheimer’s Society, the Mayor said, “I look forward to working with the local group to raise vital funds that are so desperately needed for research and care.”
The Mayor will be joined during his Mayoral Year by Mrs Joan Gordon who will be the Mayoral Consort.
The Reverend Jonathan Plows, will be the Mayor’s Chaplain this year and Tim Baker as the Mayoral Scout and Lilah Khan as the Reserve Mayoral Scout, Mere Makasiale as the Mayoral Guide and Scarlett Brooking as the Reserve Mayoral Guide for 2017-2018.
The Deputy Mayor for 2017 – 2018 is Cllr Mike Osment.
