VJ Day is the anniversary of the day marking the Allied victory over Japan in World War II (15 Aug 1945).
In Salisbury there will be a ceremony to mark this occasion on Thursday 15 August 2019 from approximately 10.45am, led by the Royal British Legion Salisbury Branch supported by St Thomas’ Church and the City Council. The Mayor of the City of Salisbury will be in attendance along with Councillors.
This year’s ceremony is likely to be the last such ceremony as sadly there are very few veterans left.
If you wish to attend, please do gather on the Guildhall Square ready to witness this event.
There will also be a short ceremony in the Cathedral after this commemoration by the Burma Star memorial.
