Community Development
The role of Community Development within Salisbury City Council is to identify key issues that are important to the community and to research and facilitate ways to successfully address them.
This will be achieved by:
• Building relationships and understanding between voluntary, statutory and private sector and private sector key organisations and Salisbury City Council to develop and implement projects
• working with and developing strong local groups who tell us what they want and need
• including local people in planning and decision making
• helping public and private voluntary groups involve local people in what they do

Active Salisbury 
Active Salisbury is our Community Sports Coach initiative. Since October 2010, when Ben Knox and Theo Tomlinson joined us as Community Sports Coach apprentices, we have been delivering a range of activities to diverse groups across the city, including care homes, schools and groups requiring specialist coaching.
We are also proud of our Camp Active initiative, where we run Active Fun Days during the school holidays for 5 – 11 year olds. Days run from 9:00am through to 4:00pm. Click here for more details
Community Development Grant Fund
Salisbury City Council awards up to £25,000 to support community based projects within the City.
The Council recognises and values the contribution voluntary and community groups make to the city and is committed to supporting these groups; enabling them to flourish and reach their full potential in serving the community.
