Olympic Torch Bearer, Dolly Burnett will be in the Guildhall Square Monday 6 August from 10am offering you the opportunity to have your photo taken with the Olympic Torch. The event will continue on Tuesday 7 through until Wednesday 8 August from 10am - 2pm for all those who wish to come along and take their picture.
Dolly was nominated by Salisbury City Council to carry the torch and was lucky to be selected to run the Torch into Hudson’s Field to the applause of thousands – lighting the Olympic Cauldron as part of the Olympic Torch relay celebrations in Salisbury recently.
Come along to the Guildhall Square with your camera to get ‘snapped’ with this symbolic icon of the Olympic Games which dates back to Ancient Greece and have a chat with Dolly, find out about what it means to be one of the 8,000 Torchbearers who, together have helped carry the flame 8,000 miles - the design of each torch incorporates 8,000 circles – one for each of the Torchbearers!
