20 June 2012
Due to the success of last year’s event, Salisbury City Council, working with NHS Wiltshire are holding a ‘Morning Mingle’ at the Guildhall on Tuesday 26 June from 10am through until 1pm where there will be an opportunity for you to come along and try some of the activities that are available to clubs and day centres around the city; these include Wii Fitness, Chair Based Exercise, New Age Kurling and New Age Bowls.
These activities are provided by Salisbury City Council’s Active Salisbury coaches, along with partner agencies NHS Wiltshire and Wiltshire Council.
Functional MOTs will be available to try and these consist of a series of simple activities to see where you are within your functional ability age range and you will receive a personalised report to take away with you.
Annie Scadden Community Development Officer for Salisbury City Council said “This is an ideal opportunity for people to come along and try out the different activities available to them. The Functional MOT will show if there are any areas in terms of mobility, balance and strength as the activities relate to all areas that perhaps need a little attention”
There will be a free cup of tea and cake available, you’ll also have the opportunity to sit and chat with like minded people, take part in a chair based exercise class and try out the Wii fitness programme.
If you have any queries or would like further information about any of the activities or find out how Active Salisbury can bring these activities to your club or day centre, please contact Annie Scadden, Community Development Officer, Salisbury City Council 01722 342860 email
