Salisbury Celebrates is a free, family fun day being organised by Salisbury City Council on Bank Holiday Monday 4 June 2012 at Hudson Field from 2pm – 10 pm.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Susan Thorpe said, “2012 is a year of celebration not only for the City but across the United Kingdom. We are keen to provide a great day out for the people of Salisbury. The City Council has made the Jubilee celebration one of our key projects for this year and has worked hard to organise a full programme of events and activities for the day.”
The Jubilee has given the council a great opportunity to work with local musicians, artistes and craft producers to bring together the ‘Best of British’ at Hudson’s Field. “We think it is so important to provide occasions when we can come together as a City and have fun. This is a vital part of building community spirit in Salisbury. We would love to see everyone – families, old and young alike, neighbourhoods and groups of friends coming together to enjoy the atmosphere,” continued Cllr Thorpe.
There will be a wide range of arena displays, free children’s craft workshops, have-a-go-activities, live music, a food and craft village, a grand firework finale and lighting of the Jubilee Beacon. Highlights of the event include; Jousting Knights, Red Devils parachute display team, Animal Bike Tour, Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion and the Counterfeit Beatles.
Event’s Officer, Abigail Bruford, says “We have a great day out planned for everyone to enjoy, I am really looking forward to the lighting of the beacon as Salisbury joins the whole country in celebrating this national event.”
