Useful Information for Families

Salisbury Crematorium is due to have extensive improvement works carried out in order to improve facilities and comply with changing legislation. The works will take approximately 5-6 months to complete and will include: Car Park extensions, new extended Waiting Room and Foyer, new Public Conveniences, improved Clergy facilities, better Office facilities and new Crematory Equipment.

During this period the Crematorium will still be able to cremate but unfortunately will not be able to stage services in its Chapel.

Alternative venues for services are being identified for families to use if you do not wish for whatever reason to use your local church

The Holy Redeemer Church - Fotherby Crescent, Bishopdown, Salisbury, Wiltshire. SP1 3EB

This venue is less than a mile from the Crematorium and can accommodate up to 200 guests seated + 50 standing with adequate on-street parking plus a small car park at the front.  It is possible to remove the Tabernacle during services - meaning that a non-religious or religious service can be held. There is an organ within the Church which is available to use if you wish.

Following the service and committal at your chosen venue, the coffin will be brought to the Crematorium by your Funeral Director and received into the care of the Crematorium Authority for cremation.

Please speak with your chosen Funeral Director about what arrangements you would like to make, and they will arrange everything with us on your behalf. The Crematorium Organist will be available to play at either of the two Church venues mentioned above and CD’s can be played at the Holy Redeemer Church and the Guildhall if desired.

Salisbury City Council sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused during this period but assures you that cremations will continue to be undertaken with dignity, grace and respect. The Crematorium is around fifty years old now and this investment will ensure that it provides the very best facilities for the next fifty.

If you have any enquiries please do not hesitate to telephone the Crematorium office on (01722) 333632. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. The office is not open at weekends or public holidays.
