Mayor of Salisbury 2012-13
The Mayor of the City of Salisbury for 2012-13 is Councillor John Collier. Councillor Collier is a City Councillor for Harnham Ward and is the 752nd Mayor of the City of Salisbury.
PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM THE NEW MAYOR – COUNCILLOR JOHN COLLIER
I was most touched by the warm welcome received at my Mayor-making and I’m both honoured and proud to serve as Mayor of our great City during what will be a momentous and historic year for Salisbury. An outstanding visit by the Queen in May, our spectacular Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June and a chance to welcome the Olympic Torch relay in July have all helped to put Salisbury firmly on the map.
I plan to use my Mayoral year to promote the City at every opportunity, to support our local businesses, to re-invigorate the links with our great Cathedral and to meet and work with as many of you as possible for the benefit of our citizens.
I recognise that in today’s financial climate, charitable giving is increasingly difficult and many worthy causes are suffering. I have decided, therefore, to support the newly-created Salisbury Diamond Jubilee Fund that raises money for a variety of local good causes with the proviso that all funds raised will be spent solely in Salisbury.
I look forward to my year as your Mayor
