Charter Fair
In 1227 – three years after the building of Salisbury Cathedral began – King Henry III granted a Charter to the Bishop of Salisbury to hold a fair on the third Monday in October. That same Charter granted the City permission to hold a market every Tuesday. Both Charter Market and Annual Fair are still held to this very day.
