Salisbury City Council is delighted to announce that Colin Jackson will be switching on the Christmas Lights at the annual Christmas Lights Switch On event on Thursday 15 November from 6pm until 8pm in Salisbury Market Place.Colin Jackson

Without doubt one of the finest and most loved athletes Great Britain has ever produced, Colin Jackson had a fantastic career as a sprint and hurdling athlete winning multiple gold medals and setting world records. Colin has seemingly made the transition into broadcasting long after retiring, most notably as an integral part of BBC Athletics, covering every major event since the Athens Olympics in 2004. Recent highlights include the London Olympic Games in 2012, the Rio Games in 2016 and the 2017 World Championships.

With an incredible competitive career behind him, Colin has been extremely well received by numerous audiences. He has consistently starred in both factual entertainment shows and reality challenges, notably being runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing, where he became the first male dancer to score a perfect 40.

The popular Christmas Lights Switch on event will showcase local performers including Salisbury and Romsey Rock Choir, Sticky Toffee Jazz and local tribute band ABBA’s Angels.
